Excursion to the Saxony Switzerland

On Wednesday the regular conference program ends after the lunch break and we will go on a hike in the Saxony Switzerland. We will leave the Castle at about 14:00 make a short stop at the hotel to change into hiking attire and take the train to Stadt Wehlen where we expect to arrive at about 15:30.

Starting from Stadt Wehlen (marked A in the map) we will hike the 5.5 km to Oberrathen in about 1.5 hours. There we will cross the Elbe on a ferry. If that is all the hiking you need you can stay in (Unter-)Rathen (marked B) and enjoy the scenery or have an early dinner. The rest of us will contine another 1.5 km up the hill to the Bastei (marked C). Up there there is another possibility to grab dinner. After dinner you can either hike back down to Rathen again to take the train or hike the 4 km to our starting point
