Flights (especially from Helsinki)

Fly with Lufthansa via Munich or Frankfurt to Dresden Airport (connecting flights are for free with Lufthansa).

Go by train to Heidenau where the recommended Hotel Reichskrone is (approx. 5 min walk away from the railwaystation). The train is leaving every 30 min during the week and will take 39 min to Heidenau. At the weekend it will take 20 minutes longer because of one connecting train. The other possibility is to use a cab/rent-a-car since the Autobahn A4 and A17 are very well connected to Weesenstein/Heidenau (Dist. Airport-Weesenstein approx. 40km / 30min)

From Heidenau we will use the Müglitztalbahn to Weesenstein. This train runs every hour between 5:19 and 21:19 and will take 8 minutes from Heidenau to Weesenstein.

By Car

Once you have reached the Autobahn A17 - leave it at exit nr. 5 "Heidenau in Sachsen" and head towards Heidenau. Turn Right to B172 and follow it approx. 2km;
To reach the Hotel turn left to Heidenau "Zentrum" - after approx. 1km you'll arrive at the Hotel.
To reach Weesenstein: Turn right again towards "Dohna". You will arrive at Weesenstein after approx. 4km.

General Information about travelling between Weesenstein and Heidenau

The Müglitztalbahn is a side-track train of the "Deutsche Bahn" which runs one time per hour in each direction, travel time 8 minutes. As mentioned before the time table is:
From Heidenau to Weesenstein, get off at the 3rd stop "Weesenstein"
5:19, 6:19, ........ , 20:19, 21:19
From Weesenstein to Heidenau (final stop)
5:01, 6:01, ........ , 20:01, 21:01

Information for back travel

To travel from Weesenstein to Dresden Airport it will take approx. 1h10min. Take this to account for your flight plans.
For instance: If you will leave at Friday 14:01 Weesenstein -> Arrive Heidenau 14:09 -> Train Heidenau 14:31 -> to Dresden Airport and arrive there 15:10
